Persistent Structures 2019-2024

My earlier work with drawing grew from direct botanical observation. I drew from the plants themselves, attentive to their structures and their ways of occupying disturbed ground. Over time, the work shifted from representation toward abstraction — from the plant’s appearance to the forces acting upon it. Recent pieces focus less on depicting a weed or a native species and more on expressing the ecological pressures these plants endure: disruption, displacement, survival, and regrowth
